In an epoch-making event, PDP National Assembly Members from Cross River North; such as Senator Jarigbe Agom, Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Hon. Godwin Offiono, Member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, Hon. Peter Akpanke, member representing Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku federal Constituency, today distributed the sum of Sixty two million naira (N62m), for easter celebrations in the Senatorial district.

Each of the 54 wards of the Senatorial District got the sum of N1m, totaling N54m, defectors and others, to share N8m.

The lawmakers, alongside the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Cross River State Chairman, Barr. Vena Ikem and other party leaders, received over two thousand defectors from APC, Labour Party and APGA.

The defectors expressed their confidence and satisfaction with PDP in Cross River State especially in Cross River North.

The Party chairman and the Lawmakers, welcomed the defectors and assured them of more development in the district.

Also, the Party leaders held a meeting with Stakeholders at Gomara Hotel as part of its post election activities. The leaders and Stakeholders assured party members of their continuous commitments to the party.

The member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal constituency, Hon. Godwin Offiono, yesterday received the 5 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chapter Chairmen of Cross River North Senatorial district, at his National Assembly office.

PDP in Yala maintains dominance over other parties, remains unshaken as Party hosts victory rally in Ukelle and Okpoma

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family in Yala, yesterday, embarked on series of victory rallies in Yala 2 constituency (Ukelle) and Okpoma ward, Yala 1 constituency, Yala LGA of Cross River State, in solidarity with the party and in maintenance of the dominance of the Party in Yala and Cross River North Senatorial District generally.

At the rally in Yala 2, party members maintained their commitment to the party following its laudable performances and democratic values so far. Hon. Martins Achadu, the member representing Yala 2 State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, commended Senator Jarigbe Agom, Senator representing Cross River North, Hon. Godwin Offiono, member representing Ogoja/Yala federal constituency and other party members especially Ukelle voters, for their fervent support so far, most especially during the state Assembly rerun election in Ukelle. He promised to work collaboratively with the federal lawmakers to attract dividends of democracy to the people.

Yesterday, the member representing Ogoja/Yala federal constituency, Hon. Godwin Offiono participated in the sectoral debate/dialogue with financial sector stakeholders including the Minister of Finance and coordinating Minister of the Economy, Chief Wale Edun, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, Governor of The Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso and Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Mr. Zacch Adedeji, during the House of Representatives plenary in the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

In line with his earlier motion on illegal deductions by banks without any sanctions by the CBN on such erring banks, Hon. Offiono queried why CBN is reluctant to use the carrot and stick approach, especially wielding the stick on errant banks in view of their culpability on Foreign exchange (FX) challenges causing economic sabotage.

In response to the above and many others, The CBN Governor assured the members of better vigilance on banks, going forward.

The Member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, Hon. Godwin Offiono, has congratulated Hon. Martins Achadu PhD on his victory at yesterday’s rerun election in 13 PUs within Yala II State constituency.

The lawmaker who played a supervisory role in the election, coordinated the Party’s activities by leading party faithfuls and the candidate to visit some of the participating Polling Units, meeting with stakeholders, traditional rulers and supporters to reassure them of the party’s commitment to sustain the momentum of good governance to the people. He also made sure the right things were done devoid of favoritism by encouraging electoral officers and security agents to remain neutral and allow the people to make their choice.

Hon. Godwin Offiono had upon his arrival in Yala, proceeded to Ukelle for commissioning of projects and project inspection, followed up with a strategic meeting at the residence of the Senator representing Cross River North, Sen. Jarigbe, before proceeding Ijiraga and Yahe in Yala LGA for further engagements.
