Hon. Godwin Offiono Facilitates Distribution Of Educational Materials To Schools Across Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency.

Having distributed sporting equipment to schools across Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency recently, Hon. Godwin Offiono, the representative of Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, has once again facilitated the distribution of educational materials to selected schools in the constituency.

In this phase of distribution, about twenty-one (21) schools were selected, and various items such as school bags, footballs, whistles, skipping ropes, gymnastics mats, science table charts, world map charts, abacuses, markers, marker boards, and band sets were distributed to the selected schools in Yala 1 and Yala 2 (Ukelle) as well as Ogoja within the Federal Constituency.

The distribution, conducted on behalf of the Member of Parliament, was monitored by his Constituency Officer, Dr. Raphael Ogar Oko. He encouraged the selected schools to fully utilize the equipment and handle them with care. Dr. Oko promised that the MP would continue providing educational support to enhance effective teaching and learning in the constituency, aiming to boost productivity in the society.

The heads of the benefiting schools commended the member for his remarkable achievements in just seven months in office. They prayed for more insight and God’s protection upon him to continue representing the region zealously.

Notably, in the course of the distribution in the Mbube axis of Ogoja LGA, several APC Chieftains and community leaders, participating in the event, chose to switch allegiance to the PDP. They praised Hon. Godwin Offiono for his commendable developmental initiatives.

As the Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe commemorates his 53rd birthday anniversary today, the member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, Hon. Godwin Offiono has felicitated with the Leader.

According to Hon. Offiono, at 53, Senator Jarigbe has affected lives immensely through his people centered leadership, developmental trajectory, and uncommon contributions to the growth of Nigeria. History will be kind to him for his humanitarian propensity and Infrastructural development, amongst others.

The Member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, Hon. Godwin Offiono has felicitated with the good people of Yala 2 State Constituency (Ukelle), Yala LGA of Cross River State, on the occasion of their new yam celebration today.

The MP commended Ukelle Nation for their progressive mindedness and commitment to the Tradition and cultural heritage of the region. According to him, culture is a proponent of peaceful coexistence, unity and harmonious living, therefore through the celebration of today peace should take preeminence in the region.

He congratulated the Traditional Rulers, Farmers and Stakeholders of Ukelle Nation for their contribution to peace building and development in the region.

Hon. Godwin Offiono morns Late Omeka Cletus

Late Cletus Omeka Odama goes Home amidst tears.

With deep sorrow and pain, family, friends and associates of the Late Omeka Cletus Odama, gathered yesterday 18th August, 2023 to bid him farewell as his remains was committed to Mother Earth in Olachor-Okpoma, after a funeral mass at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Okpudu-Okpoma, all in Yala LGA of Cross River State.

Omeka was Satisfaction personified. He was reliable, hardworking, focused, dedicated, result-oriented, humble, patient, and the like. He was a brother indeed, a lively friend, and colleague, a dedicated member of Team Goffio whose contribution to the success of the team was incontrovertible.

We’re saddened by the unfortunate, painful, and regrettable demise of our brother, immediate Brother in-law of our principal, Hon. Godwin Offiono, member representing Ogoja/Yala federal Constituency, and Team member.

We heartily condole with our principal, his wife Mrs. Susan Offiono, and the entire family of Late Omeka Cletus, and pray God Almighty grants them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

We also pray for the eternal rest of the soul of our beloved brother, Omeka.

Following the crisis between Ijiegu Community in Yache ward of Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State and Tongor Community in Konshisha LGA of Benue State, the Member House of Representatives for Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency of Cross River State has pleaded with both Communities to give peace a chance as war is not and can never be the best option for dispute resolution.

The Member who has been in constant communication with the DPO of Yala LGA, SP. Njah Paulinus, the Area Commander, Ogoja, ACP. Godwin Etim, his Constituents in Ijiegu-Yache through the Clan Head of Maa Clan, HRH Imohie Isaac Omaji, and the Youth Leader, Daniel Ochala, appealed for peaceful dialogue between both Communities as war will only leave indelible damage and bitter history between them. He was assured that, there will be peaceful resolution by the Area Commander and DPO.

Furthermore, Hon. Godwin Offiono also drew the attention of his colleague, Hon. Sesoo Ikpagher, Member representing Konshisha/Vandeikya Federal Constituency of Benue State to also intervene and advise his people to embrace peace.

And to cushion the effect of the crisis that has prevented Ijiegu people from accessing their farm lands to get food, Hon. Godwin Offiono donated food items to the Community while he continues to interface with other stakeholders at the Federal and State level to find lasting solutions.

In response, the Clan Head, HRH Imohie Isaac Omaji acknowledged the timely intervention of the MP especially for sending them relief packages. He re-echoed the MP’s love and constant support for the Good People of Yache and pleaded that, the MP should initiate a legislative process that will enable Tongor People leave their land for the sake of peace, because they have encroached into their land which is the reason for the current crisis.

Reps constitute adhoc panel to investigate fuel price increase -Goffio Gazzette Blog

The House of Representatives, on Thursday, constituted an adhoc committee to investigate the increase in fuel price, headed by Rep. Babajimi Benson (APC, Lagos).

The Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu (APC, Abia), who presided over Thursday’s plenary, made the announcement at the commencement of sitting.

The setting up of the committee followed the recent increase in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol.

The House had on Wednesday resolved to set up the ad-hoc committee to investigate the circumstances leading to the increment in the pump price of PMS from N537 to N617.

The adhoc committee is expected to carry out a holistic investigation into the matter.

The resolution followed the adoption of a motion by Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere (PDP, Imo).

Moving the motion, Hon. Ugochinyere had while moving the motion said Section 88 (1) and (2) of the Constitution empowers the National Assembly to conduct investigations into the activities of any authority executing or administering laws made by the National Assembly.

He said that Section 32 of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021, saddles the Petroleum Midstream and Downstream Regulatory Authority with the task of regulating and monitoring technical and commercial midstream and downstream petroleum operations in Nigeria.

The House also announced the setting up of an adhoc committee to investigate alleged aviation adulterated, to be headed by the Deputy Minority Leader, Rep. Aliyu Sani Madaki (NNPP, Kano).
